Weekend in Review

I was really sad to wake up this morning and realize it was Monday and I would have to go to work. I love my job, but I had an amazing weekend and did NOT want it to be over. It was full of delicious food, fun and lots of love!

Friday night I went home for the first time in almost 2 months. I live 2 hours away from home and it's been 2 months, clearly my life has been a little busy.

Levi and I took off work early to head north and meet my family at Big Ed's Steakhouse. Big Ed's is the world's best steak, simply put. I've never heard anyone say they didn't like their steak there. As a last minute addition to our plans, my grandparents came over to join us for steak as well, which was an interesting twist. It was the first time my grandparents have met any guy that I've been serious about since high school. And thankfully they loved Levi, but really how could you not. It was such a great feeling to see him easily converse with my grandpa, intently listening and talking about farming. He even took my grandparent's harassment about not shaving and joking very well, which made me love him all the more.

I kinda like him. :)

After dinner we went to my family's farm where we enjoyed the evening on the deck with the chimenea warming us up. It was pretty much the perfect Friday night, ending with a soak in the hot tub under the stars. I always forget how much I love sitting in that thing at night.

Saturday was kind of a lazy day. We woke up and went for a short bike ride. We then had a pretty big breakfast with homemade Belgian waffles, yeah I was pretty proud of myself.  On the way back home, we stopped in to see my Margaret. Margaret was my babysitter from the time I was 15 months old on. She's basically my second mother and her beautiful home along the creek outside of town often feels more like home to me than my parents house. She is the strongest most independent woman I've ever known and I attribute my stubbornness and independence to her. It really meant a lot to me that Levi met her as well.

When we finally got home after some shopping (he likes to spoil me), we napped until I had to go get ready for Saturday Cinema at City Hall, a movie event I organized in our little town. This was the second week of this event and we had just as big, if not a bigger group of people. The first week we had almost 200 people, this week it was probably just over that! In a community where there isn't a lot going on for big entertainment, I saw an opportunity to offer something simple to our citizens. We have quite a draw from all age groups. It fills my heart with joy to see so many people gathered for an evening of fun. It's also been a great opportunity to gather support from local businesses.

One of my most favorite moments of the weekend happened after the movie, we went back to my house and instead of just watching a movie or going to the bar, we played cards. I know that probably sounds pretty lame, but it was so fun. It's so great to be able to do something so simple but still have the best time. It was nice to suggest it and not be worried that he would think I was weird. I love how we can do nothing or something and still have fun...that's something I've never really experienced before and now I don't want it any other way.

On Sunday, Levi came with me to church because afterwards was the baptism of his new godson. He was chided more than once about becoming a Catholic, but I wouldn't ever ask that of him. After the baptism we had Sunday dinner with his family. I love spending time with them. I love his nieces and nephew. One of his nieces and I played the piano together which warmed my heart to have her ask me to listen to her play/play the piano with her. I was pretty proud of my skills until later when his mom was playing. She's an AMAZING pianist!

This weekend made me realize how great it is to have someone in my life that I can enjoy the simple things with. I loved spending time with both of our families and seeing people in my community having a great time!

I hope you have a great week! I'm going to ride this weekend high for as long as I can.

I have internet again!

Which means I can stalk you again! And we can set up a skype date! Or a good old fashion phone call...

I'm so thrilled for you that you're finding your place in your new home! I'm proud of the risks you've taken and not surprised at all to see that you're succeeding. You're such a hard worker, how could you not succeed???

And I can't wait to meet Levi! Hopefully I'll get a job soon so I can afford to make a trip out to see you, meet him, and tour your lovely little town. :)

Love you lots.
